Strapless

So its been a couple weeks since I posted now, and even longer since I actually did some thing the strapless body I got. So I dragged out that body the other day and have been slowly beginning the prep work on her.

I think there will be a bit of resculpting done as well, her ears need
a bit of attention, I saw a post on someone's blog awhile back
regarding this particular molds ear so I need to hunt that out and
reread it. But the main thing im thinking is get rid of her current
mane and either resculpt plaits or hair her, she can still have her
plaits but they will be haired and change her tail as well.
Because quite frankly, those plaits are terrible in my opinion. They just look stupid.

Does anyone have a haired strapless or has seen one that they can give
me a link to any pictures of? I would love to see what this mold
actually looks like haired before I do it to mine to find it really
does not look any good at all.
And because it was daffodil day yesterday here is the one lone daffodil
we have here in the yard to celebrate and support the cause.

Surprise Parcel

Well today just seems to have been a good day, about as good as a day
at school can get anyway, but im really enjoying life at the moment,
all sorts to good things have been thrown at me recently. Im sorry I've
kind of neglected the blog lately, but the models just haven't really
been on my mind, until today when I came home to a parcel sitting on
the table for me.
From Canada of all places, my thoughts were 'I haven't even been doing
anything modelly lately let alone buying or trading things'. So it was
a complete puzzle as to what had arrived in the post for me, the name
on the back rang a bell but I still couldn't think what it was.
Aand
now I remember, I traded some halters for these two with intentions of
chopping up poor old Sagr and using him as my Millie portrait. If you
hadn't got it before, I had completely forgotten about these two it was
so long ago I competed my end of the deal, but they're finally here now
and I couldn't be happier, maybe my modelly motivations have come back
at last.

Summer's Coming

First day of school yesterday, Term 3, the last full one for me this
year. I was oh so happy to get home with the sun still on the house,
not gone down behind the hill as it was last term.
Even though it disappears behind the hill about 5 minutes after I get
home (I only just caught it after changing out of my uniform) it is a
sign the days are getting longer, warmer and summer is on the way!! And
today was a beautiful day, nice and lovely and warm

Ideas Established

When a new horse shows up in the mail, I'll pull out my single tack set and chuck it on. Im not the only one
that does this, and this would be a better post if only I had some more
tack! But one thing is established, Strapless is not really a western
horse!
I don't see her winning any barrel races any time soon
What I can see her doing, is performing a low level dressage test at a pony club ODE.

PS WB = Complete!

I'm so pleased he's finally done, and I'm pretty pleased with how he
turned out as well, other that a couple of imperfections he sustained
being a bit of a daredevil he's pretty smooth really.

His hooves I'm really proud of, I think they're my best yet, the coloured pencil worked out quite well for me.

And his star is just enough to compliment his face as well.

Sorry,
I'm not really in much of a mood for writing anything of meaning so
I'll let his pictures do the talking, I'm just so pleased with him!

Because it's fun

I knuckled down and lopped off the head of my Jet Run this morning. With the help of Laura Skillern's blog posts on sculpting necks, and a bit of improvisation, I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this project.

The real Ruff

This idea has been floating round in my mind for
quite awhile now, and I can't believe I have only just got started on
t! With everything Amanda has done for me, what better way to say
thanks! I can't wait to give it to her, even though that won't be for
awhile yet.
This is what he looks like so far. The neck has kinda flopped a bit but
I'll fix that when I get to sculpting it.
My PS Pebbles WB is effectively finished too, just need to do a run
over and see if I have missed anything, I'll post pics before the
weekend hopefully.

Slow Progress

Sorry I haven't posted for a little while now, looking at the last post
about him now, quite alot has happened. He has gone a bit darker than
he is in those pics. I don't have any more recent pics than those in
other post of his whole body.
Now he
is nearing completion, he has his mane and tail blocked in waiting for
some more detail, his markings are on (however I have just noticed his
star is wanting another coat) and his hooves are blocked in ready for
some more detail also. His eyes are done and I couldn't help myself and
they are now glossed but will have to be redone I would say because the
sealer will matte them out again when I do his mane.
So that said, here's a sneak peek at what he looks like now, he has a
couple flaws in his paintwork from being a bit of a daredevil and I
patched them up as well as I could, the main one is on his cheek bone,
but I planned on him being a performance horse anyway so the bridle
should hopefully cover it, and you won't see it in photo's I wouldn't
think.
I don't really have time to even be posting but I thought I really
should, just to let everyone know what happening, and sorry to everyone
who leaves comments, I love them but as much as I'd love to comment
back my stupid computer won't let me, so I'm thinking I might need a
layout something that of the BCS blog, that seems to be the only blog I can comment on now.

Co-operation

It helps when painting a horse, that the horse has no complaints about
the colour intended. I have been working on and off on this PS Pebbles
WB for a couple weeks now, and even though we haven't had anywhere near
as many arguements as the last horse I painted,
there has been some uncertainty as to what colour he actually wants to
be! First it was dun, after he got some darker splotches on him I
decided he needed to be a bit darker, so I though bay, like Momentum, but alas, he doesn't want to be that dark and looked to me more flaxen liver chestnut.

This was him at about 9.30 this morning. I have put another couple of layers on him since, but he isn't much darker.
As he is now, he is very close to just needing the details done and then he will be done.

DIY Sharks Teeth

As much for everyone else as it is for me so I don't lose this great post, I'm sharing it here.

Desktop Stables is a favourite of mine, though I don't often visit her blog, I love Nichelle's pictures and the content is a good read as well.

At the moment she's in the process of creating a (very lovely looking) arabian costume.
This is something I would like to make at some stage, but first I think
a traditional arab in my collection would be helpful! I'm not too keen
on the fiddliness that will more than likely be involved in making a
costume for my classics boy.
I am definitely one of those hobbyists who, if something can be done on
a budget or DIY, will be doing just that! It only just dawned on me
what sharks teeth are actually used for, still not sure on the whole
point of using them, but they look good!
Picture by Nichelle of Desktop Stables

And the whole point of this post, Nichelle has shown how she made hers. To me, they look just as good as the etched ones, but perhaps that is because I am not used to seeing them or something.

My New Herd Members

My two new boys arrived, and I think they will be the last for awhile,
not that I've had that many newbies recently anyway! I took some
pictures of them, but they're not very good, I haven't had time to get
them out this weekend either to take decent pics. But, here they are
anyway.
This one was more of a 'spur of the moment' buy, but I'm pleased I got
him! He's the 2007 JCPenney Spanish Horse Family Andalusian, he's more
of a bay roan than the light bay they say he is on the Identify Your Breyer website.
I just LOVE his face!! The blaze is just lovely! Though the picture does it no justice what-so-ever!
I really quite like this mold, it's so much nicer than it looked to me in pictures.

And then there is this boy, one of the Treasure Hunt Silver's from
2007. He is really quite lovely in person, again, the photo's are
really bad!!
And he looks really neat in western!! I think I need a smaller saddle to fit him better though, but the idea is there!

Frustration and neglect

Oops! Ok, I knew I hadn't posted for awhile, but it's been almost a
MONTH!! I guess it's not fair to blame it entirely on Blogger changing
the darned layout on me, I only just got round to changing it back to
the original basic one today, only to find a note up the top saying it
will be deleted in the coming months! How can they do that!! It's the
only bloomin layout that works on this stupid computer here at home! If
they go and delete it then that means I will not be able to post from
home AT ALL, and I sure as heck won't be doing anything from school, so
it might be a high possibility that I will go to WordPress
if Blogger goes ahead and deletes the basic format. Grr, why do they
have to go and "fix" what's not broken, what's working perfectly fine.
Right, rant over. I'm pleased to have my blog back in working order for
now at least.
Not much modelly has been happening here, I was naughty and bought a
couple of horses which really hurt my bank account after the spending
spree I have been doing lately, they are in transit as I write this and
should be here in teh next couple of days. They are being accompanied
by some Apoxie Sculpt as well, so some of these limbless horses here
can finally be put back together!
I'm quite excited about the new Breyer sculpture
by Brigitte Eberl of Totilas, he looks to be a rather fun looking
performance prospect. I can't wait for him to come out in November!
Winter is definitely setting in here, I don't think there has been any
frosts here yet, just really heavy fogs, cold mornings and rain, so far
when I say it's rained, it has hosed down, yesterday we had thunder and
all! Oh well, lazy days inside by the fire are coming! That would have
to be my favourite part of winter.
Even after a month I don't have overly much to say! So I'll leave you
with this picture I found on a blog post that made me laugh, so many
times I have seen this happen and it never seems to get old, not much
fun for the kid though!

Repair Day

After sitting on my shelf for more almost a year, my wee CM Running Foal by M Durdan finally got his ear back. Still in my PJ's a sat down with some baking soda, super glue and, of course, the horse.

Layer by layer his ear slowly formed, I then filed it down and sanded it to the right shape.

And painted it. And then I got a bit carried away and decided to go over his white again too.

After seeing him for so long without his ear, he looks a bit odd now that he has one!

Not bad for an older CM.

Tiny Troublemaker

You wouldn't believe the trouble this little guy has caused me!

His prepping went fine, then the first lot of primer went well, then I
started pastelling him palomino, well, right from the start he refused
to be pally, I started about 3 times on him before chucking him on the
shelf above the computer.
I finally dragged him out again the other day determined he WAS going
to be a palomino, yet again, he refused, he ended up a lovely shade,
with dark splotches all over him. I was rather annoyed so I got out my
pastels and shaved off some brown and thought 'Right then, you can
bloomin well be bay then'...He seemed to like that idea much better!
I even managed to get a few funny looking dapples on him!!

Nothing Exciting

Nothing great to report from me. Not that there ever really is! But I
felt the need to post something, mainly because I once again realised I
don't post nearly enough! And since the post I had in mind still isn't
finished (you'll see in a couple of days) and I still felt the need, here is some pics I took last winter.

And before you ask, yes I did manage to rescue the *little little* horse from becoming lunch!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!!! Hope your all having a good chocolate filled
time! I have been good and am saving mine. That doesn't mean Easter has
been completely out for me, I made this the other night.
An
easter theme bridle, because when I think of easter I think fluffy
white easter bunnies delivering chocolate eggs, and from fluffy white
bunnies I think pink!

And doesn't CB look amazing in pink! The above photo's show the colours
best. And my apologies for my bad rider, she might need some riding
lessons!
I'm thinking it will be for sale, so if you want it, please email me
(bluemoonstables2008@gmail.com) with an offer, it's fully adjustable
with *handmade* tongue buckles. You can change the bit as well, I made
it like it is purposely so it has that option.

Another good thing that happened to me is this, I got it today when my Nan came out.

She's been working on it for about the last year or so and brought it
over with her from Australia. She also made the two cushions.

I love it!! The colours are lovely.

Not the most talkative or interesting of posts, sorry, I'm not really one for talking or making conversation!

Leukemia and Blood Foundation - Overall Champ.

A HUGE congrats to everyone, and thanks so so much for entering the
show. Remember, every horse that placed 1st or 2nd in any class is now
qualified for the championship show to be held in November/December
which I'm hoping will have some pretty cool prizes. I still need to
work out some of the details on it, but I'm hoping it will be great!
But now to wrap up this show, the Grand Champion of the Show!!
Drum roll please.
Nightfox!!
And Reserve Grand Champion of the Show:

dp. Last Chance, Honey!!

Well done to the both of you, but Nightfox (owned by L.K) gets a post all to himself, which will be coming soon!

Thanks (yep, once again!) to everyone who entered, it was a great show to judge!!

Leukemia and Blood Foundation - CM/AR Results

NOTES:

What
a competitive section!!! The horses were all stunning and it was very
very hard to pick the champ/reserves, I had to be quite harsh on the
horses’ conformation, especially in the breed one, and in the colour
championship on the paintjobs! Well done to everyone!!
