Christchurch - One Year Later

Today marks quite an emotional event for some people. Today a year ago
was a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit the city and demolished quite a bit.
182 people lost their lives in this quake, including my uncle, Shane,
not that I knew him personally, I didn't even know about him until this
day a year ago, but it is still very sad what happened to him and many
others.

RIP victims of the Christchurch Earthquake

Sleazy Sleepwear for *model* Horses

So we have this friend, she has started a small business selling all
sorts of gear, mainly show stuff, like makeup, tail bags, all sorts of
sprays and haynets, Sleazy Sleepwear stuff. Well we had to go visit her
the other day and mum clipped on of her horses for her, we had to go
check out all her stuff (again!!) and just before we left I saw this
little package thing sitting on the shelf beside the door. I picked it
up and guess what, a Slezy Sleepwear rug/hood set for MODEL HORSES!!!
I asked how much it was and she replied it was $13!!! So, of course it
came home with me!!
I
am definitely asking if she is going to get any more!! They are really
neat, they don't fit absolutely perfectly, but if I was really keen for
a better fit, it wouldn't be very hard to fix it up.

The material pattern of this one is called Lilli, a limited edition one I was told.

Yea, a day late (for me, not for you Americans though!), but better
late than never!! Was meaning to post this yesterday, but never got
round to getting online!
Happy Valentines Day everyone, from everyone down yonder at Kismet Lodge (and Blue Moon Stables, haven't decided which to keep now...yea, silly decisions decisions decisions!)!!

Highflyer's Inspiration?

Remember that painting of Hambletonian by George Stubbs in the last post?
Well, a comment on that post brought a new model I had never seen before, before my eyes! Here is Highflyer sculpted by Tina Lamport.

Even though Highflyer is quite a bit chubbier than the Hambletonian in
the painting, and the head is slightly more twisted in the painting
also, the pose etc is most definitely the same. I'm thinking (thanks to
Shoestring Stable of course!!) that the painting was the inspiration/reference for Highflyer's being.

I'm really liking that wee Highflyer now!!! And being a lg. Stablemate he's just the right size for me to *possibly* afford!!!

Old Time Paintings

After doing art last year and ending up with it endorsed with Merit (so
annoyed about the first project we did, if that was Excellence, my art
would have been endorsed with Excellence!!) and my love for painting
etc I am doing art again this year. To start off with we needed to
choose 4 different 'artist models', basically 4 artists with different
techniques. One of the ones I chose is George Stubbs. His art is really
neat I think, I love the way he does horses, some of them are not
overly 'conformationally correct', but they are, as I said, really
neat!

This one is on a poster in my form room at school. Love the colour of this horse, and always meant to get a pic,
but have never managed too.

Eclipse

Hambletonian - this is the picture I chose to use.

And yep, this is a 'Wordless Wednesday' post on Thursday!!
