Sparky

Here she is with a fixed up leg, Sparky!! Named after her first owner
on Facebook. These pics show her colour as being quite rich and strong,
she is quite a bit duller in real life, more like the colour just below
her cheek bone, but all over.
I think I need a different 'wall', her legs get lost in the darkness of this one!! At least you can't see where the break was!!

And a little headstudy picture...as you can see I'm not quite
finished mucking around with her, that nose rub needs fixing and she
has a few little marks over her body that I should be able to get off
without too much drama, along with another wee spot on her shoulder on
the other side.

All Conga's Begin With Just One

And the beginning of my G4 Para Dressage conga begins with this one.

The bay blanket appaloosa from the 2010 Horse Lovers Collection!
Unfortunately she arrived with a broken leg, which I have since pulled
off completely so I can fix it.
The
new Breyer website does have some good articles if nothing else!!
Straightforward and fairly easy to follow by the looks of it, even
though I haven't tested any yet!!

Western themed weekend

Mum decided she needed a new horse, a colt this time though. She
managed to get him and another wee filly we haven't picked up yet for
$550 which is pretty good for nice horses, and they were local too.
The colt is a wee bay blanket appy called 'Woody' or 'Woodham Ryes a Splash of Colour'. (Sorry for the cruddy pic, it is wather hard taking a decent pic of him when they are both trying to come up and sniff you!!)

He is pretty fine and leggy and actually looks like a yearling. Most of
the other horses round here that other people have do not look like
yearlings, they look quite a bit more mature and more like 2 or 3 year
olds, not the scrawny little things that are all legs that they should
look like. The only downside to Woody is he hasn't had much handling,
so he is quite jumpy...and likes to nibble...so I have a feeling a few
whacks will be coming his way!!
The lady we bought Woody off had a wee halter for sale that mum saw on
Trademe the night before. It should fit Magic so mum bought it, for me
I guess since it is meant for Magic. Since Magic is not here at the
moment, and Pony is the closest to Magics colour here, she is the
chosen model!!
It's
a funny fit round the nose though, it is out to the last hole and is
still tight on Pony, though she is a large B (being about 36-37" at the
wither) so she has a bigger head that wee Magic. Can't wait to try it
on Magic when she comes home!!

Name Sake

Well, almost!! I was looking through a breed book I got from the library in town and when I came to this page

I saw this horse...
And look at the name on the halter!!

Ok, so the nameplate actually says 'KISHMET' but it's close enough right?!! All that needs to be done is take out the H!

PS, I know this post is tagged 'Wordless Wednesday', but think of it as 'Wordless Wednesday on Friday' :P

Teeny Tiny Fiddliness

And just sheer craziness!! This project started months and months ago,
probably almost over a year ago, I had got as far as cutting out the
tree and putting some leather over it, I guess for the seat. I found it
a couple of weeks ago and decided to finish it...for my first mini
scale saddle and second (or maybe thrid) saddle ever I think it is
coming along nicely. I made the panels too fat so ripped them off and
will make some more tonight, then it just needs the skirts added and
really it is done then. I do need to make some wee stirrups though,
that is was the long bits of leather are off the sides of the saddle -
stirrup leathers. I plan to make them adjustable.
Please
excuse the green nail polish!! I bought it the other day for school (to
'support the house' at sports days etc) when I was in town and thought
I had better try it out!!
Not
looking forward to making the bridle for it!!! Though I did save some
teeny tiny bits of leather for it, they would be less than 1mm wide!!

G1 Morgan

I swear I had a post lined up for today, but for the life of me I can't
remember what it was!!! Going through my folders trying to figure out
what it was I found the pics I took of this wee guy. He is the G1
Morgan I got in my MECA Secret Santa, I took him out for some photo's the other day with Wolf,
I think they turned out pretty good, other than the first one looking a
bit 'downhill'...or is that just me??
Not sure what to call this guy, he may end up just being one of those
'shelf pieces' who never ends up getting a name and being shown!!
Isn't he cute??!
The last few days I have been working on
a wee SM English saddle I started a month or more ago...it is almost
done, just needs a seat cover, panels and stirrups, then a girth made
for it and matching bridle...for my first SM saddle I think it is
working out pretty good! Much better than my previous/first attempt at
a saddle, and that was meant to be Traditional size!!! So I will try
and get some decent pics of that for tomorrow :)
Ahh! I just remembered what my post was going to be..oh well, it
included this guy anyway!

Barrels and Palomino Sparklers

This wee guy finally arrived!! Yay, I can cross another off my wishlist
now!! This wee man has been nicknamed 'Wolf' for now...If you look
closely he has glittery sparkles on his face, they are rather hard to
see in these photos but I swear they are there!! Jokingly his previous
owner said he was a vampire, so I suggested he need a name with 'wolf'
in it to counteract the thought, but his face sparkles in the light,
and it doesn't photograph well, who could blame her!!
But anyway, here he is!! Name suggestions welcome, he doesn't have a
show name yet :)

Cna you see his sparkles??!

And this was just a random fun one I took.

And
as promised, here is a pic of the barrels I have been making, these are
the first two and I am now up to four of them, with another four
waiting to have their labels taken off and painted.

I think they are a good size for the traditionals. And with one end
open they can be used for flag races as well as other races with things
on top of them...or barrel racing or nothing to do with racing...can't
wait to use them in setups!!!

Black Pinto Stranger

Well, as promised pics of my pinto CM I finished earlier this week.
This guy didn't turn out as great as I'd hoped...being my second pinto
you'd think it's be better than my first, well, this is not the case!!
It is alright I guess, but somehow I managed to get brush strokes all
through the white, you can see them in the pics!!

I'm not sure the pinking turned out all the best either...

The brand is some china one probably. He is made of a rubbery material,
like the Breyer Micro Mini's. It almost looks like a cheap take on
Breyer's Traditional size Flame the Island stallion,
except this guy is about the same size as the bigger Schleich horses.
Barrels tomorrow. And I have some pictures of Ruff to share as well...I
hate having a load up of things to post!! Then when I get around to
posting them it is a week later..
But, yes, there is a but, this is a real life one though :) Magic was
dropped off today. She is going in foal to a silver bay/liver chestnut
(we are uncertain what colour he actually is!!) boy. Can't wait to see
what she has!!

MECA Secret Santa

This year I took part in the MECA
Secret Santa. After missing it the first year I had joined and there
not being one last year, plus with me recently becoming an admin as
well, I decided to hold one for the members this year, and with their
permission I joined in, thanks guys!! It was so much fun and today my
gift arrived!!
The candle smells very yummy and is making my room smell the same!! I'm not complaining though!!
Looks like I'm having jam on toast for breakfast tomorrow!! Can't wait to try it!
Love this wee pony pouch, very soft!!
And a very relevant fabric outer!!

And inside...
...a pony for the Pony Pouch!!

And now just for my Fallen Leaves one to arrive :) Can't believe it is
almost christmas!! Doesn't feel like it really...mind you, christmas
isn't a very big thing round here....we don't even has the tree up! But
we are going away...to the middle of nowhere!! haha, na, it's really
wuite nice over in Murchison at our piece of land, and, on a huge huge
plus side, mum's harness pony is over there, so guess what I will be
doing every day *drum roll* RIDING!!!! XD

More backups

Yup, I forgot to get the cardreader off mum, and she didn't put it back
so I am posting more pics I found the other day! I really must get my
own reader...then she can't steal it!!
So today's pictures are a random bit of fun I had awhile ago...before
Magic was clipped also, so probably around September-ish before the
shows had started. Every once in awhile I see the wee pony pad sitting
on the rack with the other saddles so I drag it out and chuck it on
Magic....not that it fits!! Which almost reminds me of a of post on Jen
Buxton's blog, things work better when they fit!! Just this is the opposite problem, the horse is too small this time!! Although she isn't that much too small!

So
anyway, Mr. Bunny, who I think is called Caramel (I won it when I was
about 4, the rabbit was almost bigger than me!!!) was just itching to
go for a ride, and sitting on a saddle on the rack just wasn't enough.

Now that is MUCH better!

I'm not all that sure that
Magic was that pleased about having an oversized rabbit sitting on her
back!! Good thing she is well behaved or bunny would have gone
toppling!! And don't take any notice of bunny, no shoes and no helmet
makes bunny a rather bad role model!!

Bloody mum again...!

I had a post lined up for today, I took pictures and everything of the
barrels I have been working on and the CM I just finished the other
day...go to put the pictures on the computer, and, voila, no card
reader!!! But not to worry, I was looking through some pictures I took
ages ago with the intention of posting them here, but as you can see I
never got round to it!!
Today's pictures are a couple months old, when Magic was just clipped
for the shows. So I had the bright idea of plaiting her mane and
turning her into a show horse!! It started off good, then, a discovery
was made, thick/long mane does not roll up into very nice bobble
plaits!! So I didn't even bother rolling up more than about 3 before
unrolling them again!
See what I mean, it started off nice!

And then of course she just HAD to have the grass under my feet!

Phew,
that's the first lot of Magic pictures up! Tomorrow will be my barrels
and CM and I will save the rest of my unposted pictures for another day
:)

Trakehner Brands

I picked up this wee book from an op shop awhile ago. It's on the
Trakehner breed and I was just flicking through it this morning and
found these. I thought they were really neat, and a great reference on
the different brands given.
This is the one on Abdalluh
And because you can't see it properly I got on photoshop :)

Anyway, gotta go, early start in the morning. Have a good weekend everyone!!
