Murchison

Christmas was spent in a remote little place just outside of Murchison
in the Maruia Valley. 4WD track to get into there and we went into town
twice in the 11 days we were there (I think!!). Good chance to get away
from civilisation and people and just, well, relax a little! It's a
pretty comfy little place, no power, no cell phone reception, it is
pretty remote!! Hills and native bush all around, there's a creek
running just down from the caravans we sleep in over there, it never
dries up and you hear it pretty much wherever you are, it's only when
your up one of the hills that you can't hear it.
Here's just a few pics I took over there, they don't show very
much...you can see more of the landscape in the pics of the horses
which I will post tomorrow.
As soon as I got there I had to make it a little more 'homely'...of
course I hauled a few horses over there!!
The view of them from lying on my bed:

And
because we were going to be over there for awhile, the dog came with us
as well...and the cat, she has a pic too, but that will be shown later.

The
rialings for putting up the wall for the shed would make a good setup
for photography...if the sun came round behind me, not the horse!!

Left to right: Dusky, Pony, Woody and Splash

View(s) from just up the hill a little bit heind the caravans.

I'm back!!!

Finally! Well, I was really back 2 days ago, but never had a chance to
update the blog. I have so many pics to share that I have plenty for
days when I have nothing else to post about!!! It's been a great
*almost* two weeks away. Didn't end up helping build the shed as much
as I had thought, what I did all day is a mystery, I rode every day I
ould, made some tack (3 halters and 3 bridles) managed to mostly prep a
wee G1 Drafter, he still needs his ear fixed and tail chopped off for
hair prepping....and I want to adjust his legs just slightly, then
he'll be ready to move off to a painter for one of the two free
paintjobs I managed to get to become a chestnut pinto Gypsy Cob.
It's good to be home though, it felt like it had been ages since I was
here, but now I'm here it feels so good! And a great surprise awaited
me when I got home, my Fallen Leaves Secret Santa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much (yep, again!!) to Helianthe!!! I love it all, and Missy
loves the cat treats as well, give her one and she's trying her hardest
to get her head in the bag and gobble them all up!!!
Anway, here's pics of what I got:
At this stage I was thinking 'where do I start??!!!?'

Definitely my favourite lolly, I'm refraining from eating it because it's just so darn neat!!!
Those are the wee things Missy loves, on the right, shake the bag and she comes running!!

Sorry for the dark picture!! Not sure what I will do with the pony, either CM it or mum thinks I should use it for next years SS...

And everything together:

Thanks again Helianthe!!! Bring on nex, I mean, this year's Secret Santa!!!

Sparky

Here she is with a fixed up leg, Sparky!! Named after her first owner
on Facebook. These pics show her colour as being quite rich and strong,
she is quite a bit duller in real life, more like the colour just below
her cheek bone, but all over.
I think I need a different 'wall', her legs get lost in the darkness of this one!! At least you can't see where the break was!!

And a little headstudy picture...as you can see I'm not quite
finished mucking around with her, that nose rub needs fixing and she
has a few little marks over her body that I should be able to get off
without too much drama, along with another wee spot on her shoulder on
the other side.

All Conga's Begin With Just One

And the beginning of my G4 Para Dressage conga begins with this one.

The bay blanket appaloosa from the 2010 Horse Lovers Collection!
Unfortunately she arrived with a broken leg, which I have since pulled
off completely so I can fix it.
The
new Breyer website does have some good articles if nothing else!!
Straightforward and fairly easy to follow by the looks of it, even
though I haven't tested any yet!!

Western themed weekend

Mum decided she needed a new horse, a colt this time though. She
managed to get him and another wee filly we haven't picked up yet for
$550 which is pretty good for nice horses, and they were local too.
The colt is a wee bay blanket appy called 'Woody' or 'Woodham Ryes a Splash of Colour'. (Sorry for the cruddy pic, it is wather hard taking a decent pic of him when they are both trying to come up and sniff you!!)

He is pretty fine and leggy and actually looks like a yearling. Most of
the other horses round here that other people have do not look like
yearlings, they look quite a bit more mature and more like 2 or 3 year
olds, not the scrawny little things that are all legs that they should
look like. The only downside to Woody is he hasn't had much handling,
so he is quite jumpy...and likes to nibble...so I have a feeling a few
whacks will be coming his way!!
The lady we bought Woody off had a wee halter for sale that mum saw on
Trademe the night before. It should fit Magic so mum bought it, for me
I guess since it is meant for Magic. Since Magic is not here at the
moment, and Pony is the closest to Magics colour here, she is the
chosen model!!
It's
a funny fit round the nose though, it is out to the last hole and is
still tight on Pony, though she is a large B (being about 36-37" at the
wither) so she has a bigger head that wee Magic. Can't wait to try it
on Magic when she comes home!!

Name Sake

Well, almost!! I was looking through a breed book I got from the library in town and when I came to this page

I saw this horse...
And look at the name on the halter!!

Ok, so the nameplate actually says 'KISHMET' but it's close enough right?!! All that needs to be done is take out the H!

PS, I know this post is tagged 'Wordless Wednesday', but think of it as 'Wordless Wednesday on Friday' :P
