Stop The Press - SPCA Charity Show Champion

Well done to Ilaria, owner of Stop The Press! In winning the Champion
of the Show in my recent SPCA Charity show, Stop The Press gets a whole
post to himself to show off!!
"Stop The Press is a commission
piece by Sheila Anderson-Bishop. I sent her a photo of the real
Appaloosa Stallion Scotch Dream as reference for the colour/pattern I
wanted, and I think Sheila did very well.


He owes
his name to the line I wrote while Sheila and I were talking about the
commission. In the beginning it was for a "plain" Mini Ravenhill, but
when she sent a pic of a CM'ed one she had (customized by Stacey
Tumlinson herself), I wrote "Stop the press! I'll take him!". Hence his
name. :)"

Saddlefree Performance

First off, Jen Buxton comes up with THE best things to post about!!! One of the latest being Saddlefree Performance, but the one I was really fascinated by was her post about an event called Bareback Puissance. That event seems really 'me'. I don't think I would ever be able to jump that sort of height though!

She really looks like she is having fun!!

Through searching 'Bareback Puissance' and
'Bareback Puissance jumping' on Google Images, it seems there aren't
many *decent* pictures of the event, thus the similarity in images to
Jen's post.
This seems the perfect event for me if I was live showing!! Since I
only own a western saddle, I would have to make my english saddle if I
were showing performance, but an english bridle is easy enough to make,
or, if you can't make one, they are relatively cheap.
This would be such an awesome thing to have setup at live shows!!! I
would love to see some in pictures from lives!

New Years Resolutions

Last night I decided to do something I haven't done for ages, write a new years resolution list!! There is a couple
things I have thought of since, but I think this will do for now. Some things I can't do until the end of the year/will
take the whole year to achieve, such as the secret santa one, and achieving NCEA Level 2. At least one I don't
even know if it will happen unfortunately. We can always hope!!

Lets hope a few of these get done!!!

Dreamflite Design Saddle Tutorial

I have been eagerly awaiting Anna Kirby's (Dreamflite Design) english saddle tutorial. So much that I ended up
making a saddle before it had come out, I finished that one the day I got it (before reading it of course!!)

That one looks better with a rider in it, even if it is a western rider!

Then I printed out Anna's tutorial and folled the instructions to make another saddle...it taught me a few things
making that second saddle, like, Anna obviously has much much thinner leather than I have!!!

I swear the stirrups on both saddles are not that short either!! I made
them both adjustable, but have already broken the strap on the second
saddle, so that I think I will pull apart enough to fix the stirrup
leather...I did want to make them the right length for my wee rider,
but I'm stuffed if I can find her!!!! Next saddle you see will be a
larger one, a plan I have to test out Anna's tutorial even more!! I
just can't help experimenting!

Breyer Trakehner: Tail Review

I know Breyer have put out a Hickstead on the Trakehner mold, what I didn't realise was the mold has a new tail
for the release. I only found this out last night while reading the Breyer History Diva blog post Letting Sleeping Models Lie. So of course I had to find out what this new tail was that seemed so unliked.

To me it really looks
like they have taken the tail off of Idocus and reattached it to the
Trakehner...ok, with some small modifications!
I really don't know what to think about either of the molds now...I
have never really like either of them in the first place, but that tail
to me just looks out of place on the Trakehner...but of course there
will be people out there that love the change. Hickstead is not on my
2012 wish list, actually, none of them are really, though I am still
thinking about Padre and possibly the roan Bouncer, though I prefer the
original Bouncer even though that mold is really not very
'correct'....Breyer, what has happened to you?!!

The horses in Murchison

I did type out a whole heap last night, and saved it ready to post
today, but it seems to have stuffed it all up so out it goes!! Was just
a whole heap of garbage you wouldn't have wanted to take the time to
read anyway!! But here, finally, is the promised pics of the horses in
Murchison, Splash, the Harness pony, Woody, the new colt, Pony, the
$100 pony, and Dusky, Twilight's foal! Can't write much more, have to
go to bed *groan* ahh well, don't have to go into town tomorrow, and I
have another post lined up for then too!
